01.07.08 NVQ Promotional material is now available in multiple languages.

July 2008 - We Teach You are extremely pleased to be able to announce that their NVQ Promotional material is now available in multiple languages.

1st July 2008 – As experts in the promotion, delivery and management of funded NVQ Programmes, We Teach You are aware that, whilst NVQs themselves are delivered in English, it is vitally important to ensure that all employees, regardless of their nationality or main language, are included in the internal promotion of a proposed NVQ Programme.

For an NVQ Programme to be truly successful, it requires commitment from the Employer, the Employee, and the delivery partner.

To that end We Teach You are delighted to announce that their NVQ Promotional material (Posters for your premises, sample memos to staff etc.) are now available for your use in: -

  • Polish
  • Portuguese

June 2008 - We Teach You proud to sponsor Loughborough College “Tea for Two” event in support of Race for Life

Wednesday (11/06/2008) is a very special afternoon in the Futures Restaurant at Loughborough College as catering lecturer Meg Cooke will be hosting a ‘Tea for Two’ event.

The aim is to raise as much money as possible for Meg’s Race for Life walk in Leicester on July 6. As many of you will know, Meg has been battling against cancer over the last few months – a period in which she decided to continue working.

Wednesday, she insists, is not about her – but all the kind people, staff and students included, who have supported Meg during her chemotherapy and radiation, which she has now completed.

Race for Life is Cancer Research UK’s flagship event that has grown to become the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event. Find out more about Race for Life and who takes part.

In 2007 Race for Life brought together 665,000 women to walk, jog or run 5k to raise £40 million pounds for Cancer Research UK – the world’s leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research.

We Teach You are very proud to play a small part in supporting Loughborough College and Race for Life.

Muslim Writers logo

1st April 2008 – The annual Muslim Writers Awards took place on 29th March 2008 at the ICC in Birmingham. They recognise the breadth and quality of literary talent within the UK’s Muslim community. The Awards have attracted support from the Prime Minister, local government and celebrity advocates like Jermaine Jackson and James Caan (Dragon’s Den). The ceremony was broadcast live to millions of viewers across the UK, Europe and the Middle East by Islam Channel and other TV channels.

We Teach You are very proud to have been founder sponsors of the Awards and we are delighted to see that the support this year from people, government and business has been immense. Lee Wilkes, Managing Director of We Teach You, said “Today, whilst We Teach You is firmly established as a leader in the field of online training and vocational training, we are still obsessed with pushing the boundaries of education and training development, ensuring that it is available to all who wish to learn, regardless of their ability, background, location, gender or race. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has pledged his support for the awards, stating: “This is a wonderful opportunity to bring excellent writing by Muslim writers to new audiences, and increase the mutual understanding of the people of Britain. Through literature we can learn about disparate cultures and widen our perspectives of the world. I would like to congratulate all of the participating writers and the winners of this year’s awards.”

The Muslim Writers Awards initiative is now in it’s second year, and is organized by Innovate Arts – a non-profit body. MWA 2008 will recognize the work of 26 writers across eight categories, with the prestigious “Writer of the Year” awards being presented by Jermaine Jackson at the glittering Awards gala. The initiative has received a phenomenal response from the British Muslim community. Innovate Arts accepted more than 10,000 submissions, and a panel of judges has worked tirelessly over the last three months to review the entries and select the awards nominees.

Imran Akram, Head of Innovate Arts, commented: “1000 guests will be attending the Awards ceremony, including 25 Senior Parliamentarians, 30 Local Councillors including the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, and 300+ representatives from the UK’s highly successful Muslim business community. The prestigious “Writer of the Year” awards will be presented by Jermaine Jackson.”

Hazel Blears, Sec. of State for Communities, commented: “We talk to a wide range of Muslim community representatives and organizations and work with them to raise awareness and understanding of Islam and Muslims. The Muslim Writers Awards is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and achievements of British Muslims and to promote role models.”

Muslim Peer, Lord Ahmed of Rotherham, is a keen supporter, and commented: “I am delighted to be associated with the Muslim Writers Awards, which aims to further the cause for long-term social integration for British Muslims. I wholeheartedly believe that this is a project that thoroughly deserves the support of everyone, not just the Muslim community. I, for one, am pleased to be a part of the Muslim Writers Awards.”
